We praise God for how He has led Covenant EFC to undertake two building projects this season—the renewal of our Bukit Panjang Centre and the building of our new Sengkang Centre. Join us as we pray for the progress of the building projects, and the people and communities we serve.
Pray for Bukit Panjang Centre
Project Progress
The BPJ building was decommissioned in June. We give thanks that prior to that, we were able to bless other churches with our preloved furniture, such as the red sanctuary chairs and some of the AV equipment, which would otherwise have been difficult and expensive to store.
We thank God that works are underway at the site. Piling work will be done in the coming months to support the new levels 4 and 5 of the building. Piling will be a challenging part of the A&A project; do pray for these works to be done safely and smoothly.
Community Engagement
BPJ Covenanters across ages – families, young adults, and primary school children have gone back to Bukit Panjang to serve the elderly. We continue to reach out to the community through Senja BLESS and through partnering New Life Community Services at the Active Ageing Centre in Jelapang.
In July, we ran a National Day-themed event at the Active Ageing Centre for the elderly that allowed them to reminisce their lives in the early days of Singapore, including through playing old school games and fun quizzes.
Prayer Pointers
- Pray that more will continue serving the community through the BLESS initiatives, whether as CGs or individuals.
- Pray for volunteers to grow in engaging the elderly in conversations, and for the elderly and community to experience warmth and love through these interactions.
Pray for Sengkang Centre
Project Progress
The Sengkang project was awarded in September 2025, and since then, we praise God that the foundation piling works have been completed. The basement structure is also 70% completed as at end July.
As at 3 August, the overall progress of the building project is about 24%. Let’s give God the glory for how He has led us on this faith-building journey thus far.
Let’s continue to pray for the safety of the workers who are building the basement as well as the superstructure in the next phase starting August 2026.
Community Engagement
Families and children have been served by our Storybuilder Programme held monthly within the community since August 2025. The families were blessed by the storytelling and craft time prepared by our volunteers, and we are encouraged by the building of friendship and kampung spirit among the volunteers and families.
A team of Covenanters have also been blessing Sengkang residents from all walks of life with complimentary talks on the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and by providing pro bono certification. The initiative started with one residents’ network and has since expanded to 10 residents network zone within Jalan Kayu, with 97 residents benefitting from this.
Prayer Pointers
- Pray that as more Covenanters serve and bless the community, we will increasingly feel and see God’s heart for the people of Sengkang.
- Pray for the residents in the community, that in our interactions with each one, they will sense the love of God and be open to us.
