Introduction

The danger of spiritual blindness

Three ways of seeing:

1. SEEING as Saul Sees – What’s the REAL BATTLE? (vv.1–23)
   “When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.” (v.11)
2. SEEING as Goliath Sees – What’s the REAL MISSION? (vv.24–54)
   “… that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel” (v.46b)
3. SEEING as GOD sees – Who’s REALLY in CONTROL? (vv.55–58)
   “… And David answered, ‘I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.’” (v.58b)
