Introduction
Our reflection on Daniel 7 can be framed with a single question: Is your vision of life controlled by this finite world, or God’s infinite Kingdom?
A. THIS FINITE WORLD (vv.1-8, 15-25)
The four fearsome beasts represent 4 finite kingdoms — the same kingdoms mentioned in Daniel 2.
1. Finite in their duration – one beast comes after another. The final beast is destroyed!
2. Finite in their power – the emphasis is not on what the beasts do but what is done to them.
If even empires are finite – aren’t we even more finite? Will we allow our finiteness to remind us that this finite world isn’t all that exists, and that we are made for God’s infinite Kingdom?
B. GOD’S INFINITE KINGDOM (vv.9-14, 27)
We worship and serve an infinite God. (vv.9-10)
The Kingdom is given to one like a son of man, and to God’s saints! (vv.13-14, 27) God calls us His saints and entrusts His infinite Kingdom to finite creatures like us.
Conclusion
Will we ask God to help us live with a higher vision?
