Introduction
Leviticus is not just a book about sacrifices, rituals and ceremonies, but about how through these offerings, unholy people can approach the Holy God.
From Leviticus Chapters 1-3, there are three portraits of our Holy God:
A. THE GOD WHO IS ALL DESERVING: THE BURNT OFFERING (LEV 1)
“He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.”(Lev 1:4)
B. THE GOD WHO IS ALL PROVIDING: THE GRAIN OFFERING (LEV 2)
“… And he shall take from it a handful of the fine flour and oil, with all of its frankincense, and the priest shall burn this as its memorial portion on the altar, a food offering with a pleasing aroma to the Lord.” (Lev 2:2)
C. THE GOD WHO IS ALL WELCOMING: THE FELLOWSHIP OFFERING (LEV 3)
“If his offering is a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offers an animal from the herd, male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.” (Lev 3:1)
