Many believers begin their discipleship journey with purpose and passion.
But many also stumble and fall. As a saying goes, “Many aspire, few attain.”
So, Covenanters, how can we finish well? The Apostle Paul’s final words in 2 Timothy 4:6–8 give us a blueprint for finishing well.
A. POURING OUT OUR LIVES IN FAITHFUL WORSHIP
“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.” (v. 6)
B. RUNNING OUR RACE WITH ENDURING FAITH
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (v. 7)
C. LOOKING TO THE REWARD CHRIST HAS PROMISED
“Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” (v.8)
Conclusion
May the Lord find us faithful to the end!
