DISCIPLE THE GENERATIONS – THAT IS COVENANT EFC’S Faith Exploit 1. The overarching reason why Christians must disciple the generations is that Jesus Christ is returning soon. We must therefore prepare the people of every generation to meet King Jesus. We do so by discipling the generations to (1) have a genuine faith in the Lord Jesus and (2) be a faithful witness for Him.The disciple’s genuine faith in Jesus is seen in the way he praises God. He praises God every day, not just on Sunday; indeed, he desires to praise God for the rest of his life and eternity (vv.1-2)! The true believer’s praises to God are not just heard from her voice, but also seen in her ventures. Genuine disciples praise God because they truly view God as incomparably great and the One who alone is worthy of praise (v.3). The disciple’s faithful witness for Jesus is seen in how he recalls and recounts God’s “mighty acts” and “wondrous works” done in the past (vv.4-7). Faithful Christians tell other generations: “God is great and good! He has done marvellous things in our lives, especially saving us through Christ from our sins!” And they keep passing on the stories of God!When Christ returns, He will judge the living and the dead for all their deeds done while alive. The Lord will call His disciples to account for the stewardship of their lives – their time, talents, spiritual gifts, influence, money and material resources.
