Church Service Updates & Advisory

Latest Updates

17 September 2021

[Updated as of 17 Sep, 7pm]

Dear Covenant Family,

Two different church members from our Woodlands Centre have separately tested positive for COVID-19. The first member at our 9.45 am English Service on Sunday, 12 September has tested positive on Thursday, 16 September. The second member at our 8.00am English Service on Sunday, 12 September has tested positive on Friday, 17 September. Both individuals were fully vaccinated and were sitting 1m apart from the closest attendees. We thank God that they have mild symptoms, are doing well and are currently placed on home isolation for recovery.

For all services at all centres, we have taken the necessary precautions and have our safe-management protocols in place. As an added precautionary measure, all staff members have been required to administer weekly Covid Antigen Rapid Test (ART) Self-Test prior to the weekend of 12 September. Contact tracing will be undertaken by the authorities for those who may have been in prolonged contact with the affected individual and will be advised accordingly.

Our worship premises at Woodlands Centre is undergoing deep cleaning and thorough disinfection by a qualified cleaning company till Saturday, 18 September. Therefore, the Hokkien service on 18 Sep will be conducted online.

In the meantime, those who attended the 12 September English services should monitor your health over the coming two weeks. We have emailed notifications to those who booked a ticket in the affected zones. Please do not hesitate to undertake the ART/PCR tests and see a doctor if you feel unwell. We also continue to remind those feeling unwell to seek medical treatment and worship at our [email protected] service. Our [email protected] service will still be available at 9.45am.

Our in-person Sunday services will continue as usual at all our worship centres at Woodlands, Bukit Panjang and Covenant East this Sunday, 19 Sep. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will update our members and congregation should there be further developments.

Our staff and pastors are available should you have any queries. Please contact us at [email protected]

Let’s continue to be in prayer for our church members for full recovery. Let us also pray for our nation, our frontline workers and our church during this challenging period.

In Christ,

Rev Tan Kay Kiong & Rev Tony Yeo
Senior Pastors
Covenant Evangelical Free Church

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

One of the following is required to attend the worship service of up to 1,000 worshippers:

a. Fully Vaccinated

You have completed the full vaccination regimen of an approved vaccination (Pfizer-BioNTech/Corminarty, Moderna or WHO EUL vaccines) by a recognised vaccination provider and has had sufficient time to develop sufficient protection (i.e. two weeks or more have passed after the second dose); or you are a recovered individual who has had one dose of an approved vaccination by a recognised vaccination provider and has had sufficient time to develop sufficient protection (i.e. two weeks or more have passed after the dose).

b. PET Testing

The test must be an MOH-approved COVID-19 test (either an Antigen Rapid Test (ART) or Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test) administered by an approved test provider, valid until the end of the worship service. The validity of your COVID-19 test is 24 hours from the time you were registered in-person at the testing premise.

ART is encouraged for the purposes of attending the worship service due to the quicker turnaround time (typically around 30 minutes for ART and up to 48 hours for PCR tests).

Refer here for the list of MOH-approved providers.

c. PET Exemption Notice

Individuals who have recovered from a COVID-19 infection may be exempted from PET. The validity of exemption period will be 270 days from the date of the earliest PCR positive result performed in Singapore or 270 days from overseas PCR positive result if a Serology-positive result is obtained in Singapore. You will need to obtain a PET Exemption Notice from any clinic offering ART or PCR testing services.

If your child is 12yrs and above, they will be required to fulfill the conditions of entry in Point 1.

Children below 12 yrs from the same household as the accompanying adult with a valid ticket are allowed into the main sanctuary under the new government regulations. Only those attending the worship service are required to fulfil one of the three entry requirements. As TNG gatherings are in groups of 5 in a total class size of less than 50, they are not required to be vaccinated or undergo PET testing.

Precautionary Measures Taken

Safe Distancing Measures for On-Site Church Service

As each family’s health and situation is different, deciding to attend on-site service is your personal / family choice. We encourage you to discuss this prayerfully with your family. As a church, your spiritual health is important to us. So too is your physical and emotional health.  Below are the measures that have been thought through and put in place:

  • MCCY’s approval of our safe management plan
  • Mandatory Safe Entry & Trace Together App
  • Mandatory valid ticket and temperature-taking
  • No “live” singing during the service under current restrictions
  • Access to toilets segregated to different groups of 50
  • No bulletins or offering bags to be passed around
  • Worshippers will enter and exit in designated routes without mingling
  • Sanctuary and rooms will be disinfected during the turnaround time
  • After service, fellowship in groups of 5 people or less can take place on your own arrangement but strictly only outside the worship premises

Precautionary Measures

  • Please adhere to government advisories for those on quarantine, SHN, SHN medical certificate. If you are a close contact of these persons, do refrain from in-person church services and church-related gatherings.
  • Continue to be prudent and socially responsible in all your personal hygiene and health measures such as keeping to safety measures in church premises, wearing your mask, and having rigorous hand hygiene.
  • SafeEntry check-in will be done via the TraceTogether App or token. Scanning of SafeEntry QR codes with your phone camera or via the SingPass App will be discontinued from 17 May. Scanning of IC will be discontinued after 30 May.
  • Please remain in your own centres and book tickets for in-person services at only ONE centre to minimise risk of cross-centre infections.

  • You have close contact with people on quarantine, Stay-Home-Notice, or recent travellers.
  • You are unwell in any way or exhibit fever or flu-like symptoms.
