Discipleship of the Nations

Covenant EFC seeks to be a church in Missions, not just a church with Missions.   

As Christ has called his followers to make "disciples of all nations," Missions in Covenant EFC seeks to establish and strengthen discipleship movements overseas and locally amongst unreached people groups/region.

 

To meet the growing needs of missions in the 21st century, Covenant Missions introduced the Five Strategic Thrusts for the next decade

  1. Home Missions – reaching internationals in Singapore
  2. Urban Missions – Reaching strategic cities through social action and evangelism
  3. Business Missions – Reaching the marketplace through for-profit businesses
  4. E-Missions – Reaching the internet masses through harnessing new technology and media
  5. The Next Generation (TNG) Missions – Reaching children and youth

 

In particular, God has led Covenant EFC to adopt the following seven regions and unreached people groups (UPGs)

  1. Singapore (Internationals)
  2. Sumatra (RM)
  3. NE Thailand (Isaan)
  4. South China (Lis)
  5. Central China
  6. Central Asia/North China (Kazakhs and Uighers)
  7. East Timor (Timorese)

Beyond Mission Trips

2008 was a turning point for Covenant EFC in missions.  God led our church to send out 100 mission teams to bless the nations to celebrate our church's 30th anniversary.  It was an unprecedented year as over 1000 members went "out with joy" (Isaiah 55:12) and returned with a passion for the discipleship of the nations.

As a disciplemaking church, we desire to have a clear process of moving every disciple towards greater levels of discipling the nations.  In the next five years, we hope to see Missions integrated into the life of the church through three levels. 

Level 1 Missions Adoption All members and small groups are involved in short term mission and vision trips and fervent prayers for an adopted region.
Level 2 Missions Mentoring

Some members are selected for one-on-one development to discern missions calling, character, and commitment.

Level 3 Missions Sending Certain members are selected for internship program to be sent out to the field through church or agency.

We believe that this process will assist our church in fulfilling God's vision of making disciples of all nations.
