Romans 5:8 says: "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

'Grace, like a gift, is to be received. It can simply be
summed up this way:
GRACE = Gift Received At Christ's Expense

The Bible reveals that all of us have sinned. Sin doesn't mean doing a list of wrongdoings but refers to the broken relationship we have with God as a result of our own rebellion.

But God desires to restore this relationship. Romans 5:8 (see above) describes how God sends Jesus to die for us even while we were still sinners - so that we can be reconciled to God. He cancels our sins so that we can make up to God.

That is ultimate love; that is ultimate grace. We do not deserve it and yet God decides to shower His favour upon us through Jesus. In short, it is His grace - Gift Received At Christ's Expense.

What now?

If you have prayed that prayer, it is best to let some one know. If you have a Christian friend who is close to you,
let him or her know about your decision. He or she will
help you understand further the grace of God and the
Christian faith.

If you do not have any Christian friends, there are three
things you can do:

1. Read the Bible

The Bible is God's word for us. It is a love letter from God.
In it, He tells us of His amazing grace and teaches us how
to live the Christian life. You may want to start with either
the book of Luke or John, which describes the life of
Jesus. Start by reading a few verses or a chapter a day.
If you want to receive God's grace, you may pray this
simple prayer:

"Dear God, I am sorry for all the wrongs I have done in my life. Please forgive me. Thank You for sending Jesus to die on
the Cross for my sins. I now receive this forgiveness of sins
and invite Jesus into my life. Thank You for Your amazing grace. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

2. Talk to God (ie. pray)

Christianity is not so much a religion of rituals as it is a
relationship of grace. God wants you to develop a
growing relationship with Him. Talking to God (ie
praying) is one of the best ways to know Him. One
helpful guide for many new Christians is A-C-T-S:

A - Adoration: Praise God for who He is (eg. His
grace) and what He has done
C - Confession: Admit your sins to God and ask for
His forgiveness
T - Thanksgiving: Thank God for His forgiveness and
all He has done in your life (eg. Good health,
studies, relationships)
S - Supplication: Pray for your own needs as well as
for your family and friends

3. Join a Church

No man is an island. In the same way, no Christian lives alone. Visit a church and meet other Christians. Read the Bible and pray together. Be encouraged by how God is working in their lives, and learn to encourage others with what God is doing in your life too.

A church is not just a building - it is a community of Christians sharing their lives together. If you need help to find a church, speak to a Christian friend you know. You are also warmly welcome to Covenant Evangelical Free Church in Bukit Panjang.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you as you
begin your new life in Him.
