Intentional Disciplemaking Church Conference

5 to 7 May 2005

Ideologies have a profound impact upon discipleship. Our worldview defines the way we think and live.

In contemporary Christian discipleship, post-modernism is a prevailing worldview to be understood and biblically responded to.

What is Post-Modernism?

Post-modernism is complex. More than just a historical periodisation, it is both a philosophical ideology and, more challengingly, a cultural mood.

It is a challenge we cannot afford to ignore.

It inadvertently affects how we live out our Christian calling in the world.

And how we disciple others!

Rev. Edmund Chan

What IDMC 2005 is About
As a reflective disciplemaking pastor, Rev. Edmund Chan is renowned for his ability to make the complex simple. At the annual Intentional Disciplemaking Church (IDMC) Conference 2005, Rev. Chan aims to tackle the complex subject of post-modernism to answer pertinent questions like "What is post-modernism"; and "How does biblical discipleship look like in a post-modern world?"

The Higher Ground
A new era of biblical discipleship is dawning. One that intentionally shapes culture rather than being one that is inadvertently shaped by it. Topics include "The Anatomy of Post-Modernism";, as well as the major implications of post-modern attitudes for Christian discipleship and ministry, such as:

Incredulity towards meta-narratives
Reality as a social construct
Hyper-Reality as a symptom of post-modernity
The Biblical Compass towards the higher ground

Come and discover the way to this higher ground – and usher in a new era of biblical discipleship!
